Crystal Ice Dragon

Description

It's not often you get a request from a husband to make something beautiful for his wife for their anniversary, if any. So when my client came in with exactly such a design I know it had to be extra special. I always wanted to design a dress with crystals growing out of the hips and shoulders. Like an ancient old being, rising up from the rocky earth. A Crystal Dragon.  Below you can find my sketch and mood-board for this design. I mostly wanted it to resemble the colors of glacier lakes. Grey silver and a touch of blue. My assistant and I cut, cast and shaped each scale, feather scale and crystal. I used 2 materials for the crystals: a transparent resin and a soft rubbery plastic for the move able areas like the shoulder pieces and the neck. For the skirt I painted a large part silver to mix in the top and the bottom parts.
